Schuylkill Headwater’s Summer Watershed Tour

SHA hosted its summer watershed tour on June 28, 2012.  The event was open to the public, and participants

toured 6 former coal impoundment sites in Schuylkill Haven and Auburn.  The sites, owned by PA Game Commission, Blue Mountain, Reading, and Northern Railroad and Commonwealth of PA BAMR

are potential sites for reclamation of silty culm or waste coal material.  Participants also visited Stoudt’s

Ferry Preparation Co.

Tour participants at the Porter site along the Schuylkill River. The Porter site is being proposed for material removal by Stoudt’s Ferry Preparation Co.
